About

General Info

Designed, and manufactured to empirically test a Reverse-Osmosis membrane (RO membrane) with the intent of finding flow rate and pressure drop across the membrane due to an axial thruster.

Plate

CNC Manufacture

One of the biggest tasks to be done for this project was the system structure, supporting all sensors and actuators. These plates acted as the backbone to the entire system. There exists 4 plates to the testing bed, all self-designed though collaborative meetings. These plates once designed were personally CNC manufactured using a HAAS machine. The CAM programing was preformed in Fusion.

Thruster

Sub-assembly

This assembly was one of the most curtail components to the system. The assembly was self-designed to fit the off-the-shelf Blue Robotics thruster. The intent of this assembly was to act as an axial pump, per request of the sponsor, to suck water through the reverse osmosis membrane. The assembly was designed as a two part funnel to maximize thruster efficiency in transporting fluid.
